I took a spring hike with some buds from Terrace north of Terrace and we followed a logging road as high as it went. There were good views of the summit ridge and down the valley towards Terrace.
This is my buddy Reiny who also likes Kauai. He starts out looking dumpy like this every spring, but by mid summer he undergoes a metamorphosis.

This is Reiny by mid summer. Notice he has lost some weight and seems fitter. He is also more agile on the slopes. His IQ is unchanged and its rumoured that he will eat anything. His lady says that he is fairly warm to cuddle with at night. To tell the two Reiny's apart, its not that difficult. After comparing the two images through my forestry stereoscopes and taking careful measurements with a micrometer, I figured it out without any help. In summer his ears change direction and stick out sideways.

This is another hiking friend, Marika, who accompanied the two Goats along on this steep uphill hike. The way she flies up these steep roads, I think her spirit animal is a wild goose. Note the summit behind us, a half hour further with gators on if you so choose.

The view south west down the Kitsumkalum Valley towards Sleeping Beauty, another fine hike. Boy, with bare legs, a hot tub and a whisky straight up would sure feel good right now.

Our bear dog alerts us to the presence of bears by leaping into the arms of the nearest person to act as a canine shield. A novel way to protect hikers I thought. In my personal opinion which I say without any prejudice to the Owner, the ass biting bear dogs of Finland are less of a burden. He is pointing at a year old bear scat on the ground.
