Greyhound Murder Update
Court was told the Vince Weiguang Li was seen eating parts of his victim. He is so disgusted and appalled with himself, that in court he was pleading for someone to kill him.
Trying to understand this behavior purely from a biologists point of view takes me back to the behavior of the Chimps of Gombe. One of the mothers who was jealous of another who had a beautiful infant killed and ate the infant. Was something similar going on here. Grizzly bear males will kill and eat females and their cubs on occasion, probably when they are taking over new territories. Male lions practice infanticide when taking over a new Pride.
Whatever it was, the moral, ethical, just, humane, empathetic, social human had vanished from the scene and animal behavior was at its most brutal and raw in this case. I am reminded of the fact that beheading and cannibalism were practiced by the Celts of England and Europe as recently as 2000 years ago during the time of the Druids and within the last century by the Dyaks and headhunters of old Borneo. They used to call White man, Long Pig.
This incident is somewhat reminiscent of the Jeffrey Dahmer story where the Milwaukee man killed and ate 17 young men that he lured to his place. And then there is Idi Amin who allegedly ate his victims. These chaps are predators in the true sense of the word.
If you destroy the cerebrum with drugs what you have left is the reptile brain and this is what the reptile does. Probably the best place for this guy is in a wildlife zoo next to the lions, tigers, bears and reptiles. We could feed him raw road kills for the rest of his life. Alternately we could use him to hold up targets at an F15 rocket practice range or more humanely, hire him as an Ambassador to countries attempting Plutonium production.
Unfortunately, Canada has abolished the death penalty. It would be very appropriate in this case. Do you think maybe his mother is a little disappointed in how her son turned out?
