8 Degrees to Jurassic

September 8, 2007 / by quarksandgenes

Canadian climate models predict 4 degrees by the end of the century in northern latitudes. It now appears that we will get there sooner than later. When polar and alpine ice is gone, nothing will hold the temperature back. I don't think climate models have accounted for that. They have failed to predict the observed speed of ice recession. From the average global temperature of 12 degrees of the ice ages to the 20 degrees of the Jurassic is only 8 degrees. This spells extinction in my way of thinking for an enormous number of creatures and urgent evolution by others. Will humans survive? 8 Degrees to Jurassic will put Crockodilians in Norway once again.
