I was trying to get this old girls pic when she took exception to me and charged me. I was close to the Prince George university dorm doors at the time and made it before she got me. She may have had a calf in the forest behind her. Do not mess with a 1000 pound mother moose. They can break your back and all you ribs with those hooves.

When I was prospecting in the Omineca Mountains back in the early 1970's for El Paso Mining and Milling as a summer student, I got to go along on a summer hunt with Trapper and Lodge Caretaker Peter Deeja from Old Crow at Aiken Lake. He shot one of two moose calves and the cow watched us skinning the calf. He told me to hold the gun on her and if she makes any move towards us to kill her. A friend of his had his back broken in just such a situation.
I asked how he could justify taking a calf moose and he said he's got the same rights as Mr. Wolf who would not even think about it. I knew that the chance of both calves surviving even one year is pretty slim so of course he was right.
